My sunflower presentation

Today, Shuen suggested that I write a book titled, 'Why S-------- is d------ but what we can do about it'. I thought it was a rather interesting idea.

Today, for those of you who do not know [ftwdnk], I presented a power-point presentation. Now this was one of the most controversial and fascinating of all the presentations I have ever done. I realised that you either liked the style I was presenting (a humourous one), or you thought I was talking rubbish.

If you have ever been through any of my presentations, you should know that I change the style of my presentation to suit the audience or topic. I can be amusing or serious, depending.

I made a few mistakes today. I misjudged my audience. Now, if I was presenting it to 1E, I probably would have no problem. I only realised today how different things are (slow response, yes) Sure, some of 1E had gone up to 2E. But the 2E (like the rest of the adults today), were very serious. I was taken aback. They laughed at the jokes, but then told me that I should take away the irrelevant stuff. Its like going to a party, eating the cakes and desserts, and telling me I should not have them as it would make them fat.

HELLO? I was presenting pictures? What did you expect me to say? Like, this is a picture of the plant, it got watered too much and got root rot and died? How many of you would remember that? But next time, when you plant a herb, because of my stories, you would probably remember why you should not water it too much.

Perhaps I am being defensive here. I'm sorry. But thats not the thing that gets at me. The thing that gets at me is that some of us have turned to work,work and more work. The only thing in the presentation where you can really enjoy are the pictures. Do you really think that it would benefit you if I just stood there, reading off the facts? I would probably have said less, and in fact you have learned more today.

It reminds me of the story the little prince. The narrator had brought always a picture of a boa that ate an elephant and ends up looking like a hat. Adults have no sense of humour and always tell him it was a hat. And he would place himself at that level, and would talk about bridge or golf, about politics. I think I will place myself at that level. The next time, I am going to be a serious presenter, if thats what you want.

The only good thing was said by Ms C. She said that I was a good presenter. I always knew that.

Sigh. I know I taught time and time again that you should not let external events should not affect you. But everytime I enter the 2E class, I can't help but feeling depressed. Everytime I enter 2 Grace my mood lifts. I am respected and appreciated again.

I know the chances of you being affected by this and changing your life is very slim. I wrote a compo on materialism today. And then I saw my senior being mesmerised by a handphone and he knew what I was thinking, but he couldn't set himself free...I really think that he is a very sad case of what our culture has done. He once asked me what I wanted to become, but he told me not to list Scientist or any other job like that, as it is not being realistic. I wanted to shake him and tell him, if you don't follow your dream, you will never be at peace your whole life. You will be searching, but find nothing. But I didn't. I just shook my head.

This is my view of things of course, you may have a complete different view on how the world works. I am not saying that that is wrong, but search yourself. Search.

P.S. I am really frustrated at how people can be sooooooo stubborn. I keep keep keep telling them. But they wouldn't listen!!! Its so obvious that the truth is in front of them. For eg. I keep saying that stress causes most of our health problems today. But, I can still hear the same people saying that they really need pills for [some small health problem]. ARGH. God told me, I can only help those who are willing to help themselves. Come on. I study materials, and I try to summarise and pass on the lesson. All you need to do is listen. I will keep changing the people on my list to see who this benefits the most. If you think that it is interesting, I will send you my previous emails and continue to send you emails. If not, back to your life, and I hope one day you will seriously consider what I said, and its not on the last day of your life.
