Mother Teresa and Princess Diana
Hi Friends,
I was not very happy today when Pastor Wee showed the pictures of Princess Diana and Mother Theresa and his speech that Mother Teresa was a 'good servant'. I think he did not get his facts right.
Obviously, as you can see from here my stand. I support Princess Diana. She is one of my role models who inspire me to be the light in the darkness. She was a fighter. There was a uproar when she died, around the globe. It was probably unrivalled. P.M Tony Blair used the right words to describe her, she was indeed a 'people's princess'.
Princess Diana, was the 1st wife of Prince Charles. However, in the 1980s, their marriage was very rocky, as Prince Charles seem to 'return' to his ex-flame, now current Camilla Parker-Bowles, whom he is married to now. She was constantly attacked and followed by the media, and was treated with suspicion from the Royal Family.
Yes, she did try to commit suicide a few times. But hello? Look, consider her stand, you are married to a family, and everyone in this family treats you with suspicion, including your husband, and you can't meet up with friends often because you live in the palace, and there's a bodyguard and the media following you everywhere.
Princess Diana was held as a role model for women, as she took her stand against landmines and her involvement with AIDS issues. She was very involved in charity work. She did not want her title. She could do just as well without her title. Compare this with Mother Teresa. Both of them were famous, yes, Mother Teresa was another exceedingly good role model. But did you know that Mother Teresa was so powerful that had an influence over the government?
In fact, she also had many critics, saying that she encouraged baptism on the dying into the Catholic faith, no matter what religion they were, and mis handling of funds, and so on.
Each of them have their good points and bad points. But, as Jesus has encouraged us not to judge. Try as we might, we will not totally understand their situations. Princess Diana used to work at a kindergarten (though I think she did not have the qualifications to become a teacher) and later at a cleaning job. Some of her supporters even tried to nominate her for sainthood, but others still think that she had a mental illness. Perhaps...
I shall end here, but, still I would advise you to not look at a person and judge them, unless you know them really well. If you have heard the song 'Candle in the Wind', it was a special tribute from Elton John to Princess Diana. Sir Elton John was a good friend to Princess Diana, and he was very depressed when he heard Princess Diana died. If you ever do get a chance, you might want to listen to that song. Its a very special song.
Aaron
